Job Profile

Job Title: Operations Manager
Reports To: Regional Vice President

SUMMARY: Responsible for the overall efficient functioning of the branch production shop and office. Facilitates customer requests for information, quotations and orders by interacting with regional managers, outside sales, production staff, office staff and vendors.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages the office staff and production department. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with MIR's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include providing inside sales and fabrication support; interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Supervises and coordinates activities of production and office staff for optimal operational efficiency and economy. Through communication with the Regional Manager and sales team, provides direction to the entire staff as to the urgency of customer requests for quotations, delivery and installations; Supervises office staff activities for efficiency, accuracy and policy procedure; Provides administrative support to the office staff, sales team and Regional Manager when necessary; Forms relationships with employees, customers and suppliers to ensure conformity in all transactions.

Branch Maintenance
Responsible for branch equipment & maintenance, production & office supplies, building maintenance and local services (phone, utility, etc.); Oversees inventory levels for the production department and assists in running cycle counts.

Confer with Safety Manager and employees to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training and to understand policies, regulations, business initiatives and technologies; Assist employees with problems concerning how to perform specific tasks to the safest extent possible; Administer best practices and training programs designed by Safety Manager to help MIR meet our goal of "zero" accidents and injuries; Provide a safe and healthy workplace for all employees through technical support and direction.

Sales Support
Works closely with outside sales staff to communicate customer information and order status; Provides inside sales and belt fabrication support.

Ensures that production and office employees receive appropriate new hire and continual training.

Human Resources
Responsible for the hiring of production and office staff: writing ads, reviewing resumes, scheduling & conducting interviews, gathering and forwarding background check and new hire paperwork to Corporate; Responsible for rewarding, disciplining and coaching employees when appropriate; Performs or reviews performance appraisals on production and office staff; Administers MIR's policies and procedures; Provides immediate communication to the Branch Manager if any exceptions occur.

Operations Management
In addition to the above duties, the operations manager is responsible for the quality and quantity of work processed in the branch(es) and for the organization and allocation of work assigned to the staff, including inside sales. The operations manager is also responsible for all tasks of the branch not specifically assigned to the production manager, salesmen, inside sales or regional manager.

Helps set a positive, professional tone to the branch by their example and attention to detail; Projects a professional and courteous demeanor when communicating with supervisors, co-workers, staff, customers and suppliers.


Education and Experience
o Bachelors Degree in Industrial Distribution, Business Management, or similar major required.
o Experience working in a manufacturing, production, or industrial setting. Experience in conveyor belt maintenance and/or sales helpful.

Computer Skills
Position requires ability to understand and utilize Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook). Experience with Global Shop or similar ERP software is a plus.

Physical Requirements
On a regular basis, lifting of average or heavy weight materials over 75 lbs, occasional bending, stooping and upper body & arm rotation, frequent pushing, pulling, sitting, standing and reaching and some climbing.
Valid driver's license required

Based on previous experience of the individual, in-house training of approximately 12 months in production and operations management will be provided.
Shop training: This will include, but not be limited to: fabrication, shipping and receiving, surveys and installations.
Office Training: This will include, but not be limited to: customer communication, vendor contacts, order entry, marketing and overall office paperwork procedures.
Management & Supervisory Training: Management training will be provided throughout the entire training process. Both internal and external resources will be used to ensure trainee is trained on the necessary leadership skills to lead a team.

Medical Insurance: MIR pays 90% of the premium for employee-only coverage, leaving only 10% for the employee to pay for. We also offer family coverage and 10% of the premium is covered by MIR.

401k: MIR contributes 3% of an employees salary. The employee is not required to match or contribute to receive the MIR contribution of 3%.
Tuition Reimbursement: MIR reimburses up to 90% of tuition, after 1 year of employment, for Undergraduate AND Graduate education.
