Job Description


Job Title:          Production Manager

Reports To:     Regional Manager

Location:         Philadelphia, PA



Responsible for the overall efficient functioning of the branch production shop and office.  Facilitates processing of customers' orders by interacting with regional managers, outside sales, production and office staff. 


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Shop Management

Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the production shop to effect operational efficiency and economy; Forms relationships with employees, customers and suppliers to ensure conformity in all transactions. 

  • Shop Production

Process orders in a safe and efficient manner; Operate light industrial equipment; Communicate with supervisor regarding assigned orders, scheduling, and other production issues. Closely works with outside sales staff to communicate customer information and order status.

  • Safety

Confer with Safety Manager to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training and to understand policies, regulations, business initiatives and technologies; Assist employees with problems concerning how to perform specific tasks to the safest extent possible; Administer best practices and training programs designed by Safety Manager to help MIR meet our goal of "zero" accidents and injuries; Provide a safe and healthy workplace for all employees through technical support and direction. 

  • Shipping/Receiving

Ensure timely shipping of belting product; Receive shipments in a timely manner and ensure delivery to correct recipient; Maintain shipping/receiving department with needed supplies; Process and maintain UPS Worldship reports. 

  • Installation

Responsible for coordinating all aspects of the installation process as pertains to the production shop. Ensure that installations are performed in a timely manner, without sacrificing quality, professionalism, or safety.


  • Inventory Management

Recognize appropriate inventory usage and reports low levels to supervisor. Responsible for choosing the appropriate inventory for shop orders, and the accuracy by which that usage is reported. 

  • Shop Maintenance

Responsible for production equipment, supplies, maintenance and service. 

  • Maintain Professionalism

Projects a professional and courteous demeanor when communicating with supervisors, co-workers, staff, customers and suppliers. 

  • Management

In addition to the above duties, the Conveyor Belt Fabricator is responsible for the quality and quantity of work processed in the branch. Self-managed and works independently with minimal supervision. 


3 to 5 years of belting Experience Bachelor's degree from four-year college or technical degree preferred.  



Ability to read and interpret basic financial reports, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write memos, reports and business correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, employees and the executive board.



Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.



Valid driver's license required.


This position requires regularly standing and reaching with hands and arms; occasionally stooping, kneeling, or crawling.  Position also requires occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 75 pounds. Position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule, including the occasional night and/or weekend. 24/7 On-Call for emergencies.

401k: For 2018, the digressionary target for MIR is a 3% contribution. Full time employees are not required to match or contribute to receive the MIR contribution.  

Tuition Reimbursement: MIR reimburses up to 90% of tuition, after 1 year of employment, for Undergraduate AND Graduate education.
