Job Profile

Job Title:        Payroll and Compliance Manager

Reports To:    Human Resources Manager 

Summary: This position manages the payroll and compliance activities of the HR department. In carrying out these responsibilities, the manager is responsible for payroll, commissions and related other responsibilities such as: payroll tax reporting, benefit administration and payroll systems design and maintenance. This position also is responsible for payroll related accounting activities including general ledger postings, reconciliation and analysis, 401(k) and insurance audit management. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Train and manage the Payroll Coordinator
  • Review and approve all payroll and commission processing and reporting, including analysis and general ledger postings
  • Prepare and/or review all insurance and workers' compensation audit preparation
  • Responsible for FSA and 401(k) enrollments, adjustments, withdrawals, etc.
  • Provide training to other members of the Human Resources department on payroll and compliance processes
  • Maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for payroll and compliance tasks
  • Review and monitor all MIR employee loans and promissory notes
  • Responsible for annual bonus calculations including TEAM bonus
  • Responsible for Flexible Spending Account questions, substantiations, and W2 adjustments
  • Maintain involvement with software implementation (Global Shop, ADP, etc.) as needed
  • Monitors and analyzes payroll and compliance work to develop efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy, such as improvements to Daily Balancing

Education and Experience:  Experience with Word, Excel and Outlook highly preferred.  Experience with ADP strongly preferred.  High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required, Bachelor's degree in Accounting strongly preferred.

To highlight a few:

Medical Insurance: MIR pays 90% of the premium for employee-only coverage, leaving only 10% for the employee to pay for.  We also offer family coverage and 10% of the premium is covered by MIR.  

Long Term Disability: MIR pays 100% of the cost for each employee's long-term disability coverage.  

401k: MIR contributes 3% of an employee's salary. The employee is not required to match or contribute to receive the MIR contribution of 3%. 

Tuition Reimbursement: MIR reimburses up to 90% of tuition, after 1 year of employment, for Undergraduate AND Graduate education.
