Job Description


Job Title:        Administrative Assistant, Purchasing Department

Reports To:    Purchasing Manager

Summary:  Provides administrative support to the Purchasing Department by performing the following duties.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include any of the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Purchasing Support
    • Confirm Purchase Orders
    • Item Creation
    • Processing Purchasing Orders
    • Vendor Follow-ups
    • Retrieve Tracking
    • Communicate to branches on issues
    • Provide Quotes to Salesmen
    • Research Inventory


  • Administrative Support
    • Provide general administrative support
    • Sort and distribute incoming correspondence
    • Data entry and file maintenance
    • Special Projects as assigned


Qualifications:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each job responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  

Education and Experience:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required, Bachelor's Degree in a business field preferred.  Related office administration experience and/or training helpful.  Experience with standard spreadsheet and various computer software including Microsoft Suite required.  

Communication Aptitude:  Positions requires ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; Ability to write simple correspondence. 

Technology Skills:  Position requires ability to understand and utilize Microsoft Office. A strong knowledge of Excel with the ability to create, navigate, and utilize complicated documents is required. An ability to learn new computer systems with confidence is required.

Medical Insurance: MIR offers full time employees medical, dental, and vision insurance.    

Long Term Disability: MIR pays 100% of the cost for each employee's long-term disability coverage.   

401k: For 2018, the discretionary target for MIR is a 3% contribution. Full time employees are not required to match or contribute to receive the MIR contribution.  

Tuition Reimbursement: MIR reimburses up to 90% of tuition, after 1 year of employment, for Undergraduate AND Graduate education.
